Fellow STYPers -

Once again we will be having a big presence at the annual SpiedieFest and Balloon Rally. The SpiedieFest and Balloon Rally celebrates all things spiedie and throws in some other cool things: several concerts, balloon launches all weekend and more. It all happens at Otsiningo Park in Binghamton on August 6-7-8 (Fri-Sun.)

At this year's SpiedieFest we will be running both north and south entrance gates and the information booth. Volunteers are needed for each and typically work a four-hour shift. In exchange for your volunteering efforts, you receive:
- Free volunteer shirt ($20 value)
- Free admission to the festival all weekend ($15 value)
- Free snacks during your shift ($5 value)
- Free parking at the festival ($5 per day value)
- One entry per shift worked in a drawing for a Hot Air Balloon Ride ($150 value)

For those interested in working multiple shifts throughout the weekend (there are always a lot of you!), we are once again offering the coveted on-site parking permits if you volunteer for three (or more) shifts.

Our job is this: We provide volunteers to run the two admission gates at the festival. Each gate has supervisors and workers. Supervisors handle any questions by guests, radio to the bank for money pickups, and generally coordinate the workers. The workers themselves check guests for a SpiedieFest button or collect money from guests paying for admission.

Those working at the information booth answer questions about upcoming festival events and give directions to people throughout the day.

Volunteering at SpiedieFest is a lot of fun - you work a short shift with friends and other young professionals. Shifts are four hours each and you get access to the volunteer-only tent in the middle of the festival. Many people volunteering last year chose to work many more than just one shift.

If you are interested in volunteering - and the best shifts WILL go fast - please respond to this email and I will put you on the SpiedieFest Email List. I will be sending out the first schedule in the next two weeks to that list and people can "claim" their shifts from there. Shifts go on a first-come, first-served basis!

I will coordinate getting people their festival information, shirts, and passes. I am at most STYP events through the month and can work with you to get your stuff to you. When you sign up, emails will follow with further details.
